2013- Ultimate Ascent

Ultimate Ascent is the 2013  FIRST Robotics Competition game. It is played with standard weighted ultimate frisbee discs. Alliances of 3 teams each have a 15 second autonomous period where their robots can shoot or dump frisbees in 3 goals of different heights for double their normal point value. After this period, they enter a 2 minute teleoperated mode, controlled by human players. Robots attempt to fire or dump frisbees in the three goals for 1, 2, or 3 points respectively. Robots can also attempt to scale a 90 inch tall three-runged tower. The first rung nets 10 bonus points, the second 20, and the third 30. The alliance with the most points after the 2 minute and 15 second play period is declared the winner of the match.

On March 7-9 2013, GET SMART participated in the Ultimate Ascent tournament at the Orlando Regional with FIRST teams from across the globe.  We played through 10 of the numerous qualifying rounds, claiming victory in most and learning from each match.  We seeded in the top 8 and after choosing alliances, we were the captain of the 5th seeded team.  After progressing through the grueling semi-final rounds, our alliance ended up placing in the top 4 out of over 60 teams from around the world.
